Craftsman First
Some days, I am an arborist. Some days, a gardener, stone mason, or horticulturist. The medium changes, but the craft remains the same.
Awen Gardens is built around trees, stone, gardens, and the relationship between them.
I aim to create botanical spaces that serve as functional living sanctuaries shaped by a "craftsman-first" philosophy, where structural stonework and organic plant life merge seamlessly—intentionally avoiding the assembly line of modern landscaping.
Material-Led Design
Rather than imposing rigid, mass-produced layouts onto a property, the designs are heavily improvisational and entirely dictated by the natural character of the site and material. Every botanical environment is treated like an organic gallery.
Drawing on deep principles of scale, movement, and proportion, our layouts embrace an asymmetrical, earthy aesthetic that feels discovered rather than forcefully constructed. Trees are curated and shaped to showcase their natural structure and movement, ensuring a fluid transition between the surrounding architecture and the wilder natural world.
The Dance of Stone & Canopy
Every project is approached differently because every site, every tree, and every piece of stone brings its own character to the work.
The material leads the dance. That space between planning and improvisation is where the true joy of creating a garden lies.
